madeline miller doesn't miss! this was a stunning retelling of one of the most prominent characters in the odyssey, done with so much tact and heart. time will tell if it will sit with me as much as TSOA did, but this is a beautiful read.

Song of Achilles was one of my favourite reads of the last 12 months and I was so excited to eventually read Circe. However, I really did not love this book.

I felt it was definitely a modern day twist on the fable and found the further development of some of these characters interesting. It was definitely well written. I thought the ending lacked power, I. Wanted it to end catastrophically or at least have a large impact, for me it was vague and too soft. I also believed the pacing of this was off, with some chapters having a fast flow and others really dragged on.
