What a cracker of a book! Two generations trying to find a path out of the seemingly inevitable demise of humanity and the earth itself, each member of the family taking a different approach.

I loved the ending too. It spoke to my very soul and was a wonderful closing on a vivid near future story.

wanted to like this book a lot because of the futuristic aspect but honestly i felt like it was a lot of filler with a bunch of scientific bullshit that was super unnecessary. maybe once i wouldn’t have minded but this was all through the book and i found repeating things we already knew was another waste of time. i’m sad he didn’t get to be with his family anymore but i do understand why however the aspect of everyone dying was weird idk i don’t think everyone should be upgraded but i gusss that makes everyone the same

This book was a fantastic, but haunting story about humanity on the brink of extinction with the ability to edit genetic code to potentially save the future of human kind. It was high intensity, jam-packed with action and emotion, but my favorite parts were the discussions and reflections on ethics, morality, and what it means to be human. As always, a big fan of Crouch’s work!

the writing is excellent! however, its too dystopian for my taste. and people are morally worse in this book than in real life. im also not keen on reading from a government employees POV lol
