I love this author but this is my least favorite so far - lots more science and action which he usually does in such a good combination but amping them both up made this read more cartoonish and the characters less interesting
4.5/5: easily my favorite of the three Blake Crouch books I have read. A very interesting sci-fi theme of genetic enhancement with deep questions into what it means to be human, humanity’s March to extinction in the face of global warming and overpopulation, and what extremes we would be willing to go to to save our species. As with most of Crouch’s books I wish it delved more into science, but he does a great job of writing characters with emotions in the sci-fi realities he creates.

I do not recommend reading this in the year of our lord 2025... everything is so bleak...
Did not even compare to the other Blake Crouch books for me. I didn’t get that itch of confusion and oh my goodness this is so cool. The book was fine. I was disappointed as most of my favourite books are about people who get super powers, this one just did not do it for me.
