A friends-to-lovers/grumpy-sunshine/opposites-attract romance between our ADHD Queen Poppy and Anxiety King Alex. The banter was as fun as you'd expect from an EmHen book, and I loved how so much of it was rooted in inside jokes and callbacks that made their friendship feel so authentic to me. I also really enjoyed the flashbacks to trips of previous summers and the theme of how it’s not about where you go but who you’re with; some flashbacks we don’t even really see the main attractions the characters are visiting, because the beauty of the trip was just in the small moments shared with someone you love.

Witty and intelligent and brought back many real-life memories of my own relationships that teetered on the edge of the friend zone or crossed over into something else, with various levels of success. Peppered with present-day references like Netflix and Uber and travel blogs but really could have taken place in many time frames. Exactly the summer read I was looking for.
