Seeing as how this says it's a prequel, I decided that I would read it before I read the series. I really enjoyed how the story was an adventure, and I loved the relationship between Rose and Briar. I also loved the style of the artwork.

Inessential prequel. There are some nice moments and it was great to be back in Smith's world, but I couldn't help but miss the Bones.

Interesting. Lots of dragons. Two princesses. Good vs. evil type story.

3 stars because of different drawing style! (I wanted the same author.)

The art here was phenomenal. The dialogue felt a little slow in a few places, but I think it was pretty good overall. The ending was great.

This was actually a really good prequel story. At first, I was really thrown off by the illustration because it's obviously done by someone else. BUT the story fits really well and it's actually pretty cool to see some blood in the storyline.

A Bone prequel written by Smith and illustrated by Charles Vess. I was initially disappointed that Smith didn't draw it, but Vess is certainly no slouch and he sort of bends his style a little bit in what seems like a nod to Smith's style.
