Although the beginning of this book almost made me dnf it, I enjoyed it much more after it started using two separate POVs. I found Kat annoying a lot of the time, but I really liked Stevie's character and thought that she was relatable. I also liked the whole storyline with Cary, and the plot point with Stevie and her stepsiblings. However, the few short sections of Teri's adventure were so unbelievably difficult to suspend belief for that it was pretty cringey and I think the story would have had exactly the same effect if those parts had been cut out.

This one was very fun! It included so many fun elements that kept the story moving and interesting. If this the book of the biggest coincidences? Sure! NOTE: There's a plotline that was so ridiculously unnecessary that I'm wondering what Matson thought she was doing with that one... This wasn't my favorite of hers (still definitely "Since You've Been Gone") but it was really enjoyable. ALSO, the theater references in this were so spot-on. Normally, it's kinda cringy or really intense when theater is mentioned in books, but Matson understood the assignment--down to the fact that Kat and Stevie did "Fiddler on the Roof" the same year in high school that I did.

this book is very reminiscent of other ya stories where the main characters get lost in a city they're unfamiliar in - while a multitude of bad things happen to them in order to keep them from reaching their main goal. there are countless cliches littered in this book, which i couldn't help but roll my eyes at, because it started making the book feel i was reading a cheesy teen book. which, i will admit that this is exactly what "take me home tonight" is, but i was willing to give it a chance despite that fact. i'm actually sad i didn't enjoy this book, because the blurb made me really excited to read the story, but it just ended up being something i couldn't bear to get through in the end.

To be honest, I picked up this book in part because I thought the theatre/New York references would make me crazy. But for the most part, they actually made sense! To nitpick, occasionally the geography was bonkers, but what’re you gonna do. It’s been a second since I read a YA novel, and it was refreshing to be able to read something quickly and without that much density. The characters were deeply teenagers, and their problems were like…deeply unserious, but when you’re that age everything feels like the end of the world, so I give them a pass. The twists were often predictable and you have to suspend a lot of disbelief, but it’s a fun little romp. The one glaring thing was that Teri’s plot line was so unnecessary and I hated it. There was so much to keep track of between the two main characters, I didn’t need a spy thriller every 30 pages.

This book was interesting to say the least. I liked the idea of them going about New York but I felt it took them FOREVER to even get into the city. Teri’s story was more interesting then the main characters. Especially since the stakes were very high. I didn’t expect for that to happen but it did. There was a lot going on to say the least. Some characters I would want to read more then the others so I would be excited to read them and it juggled between the three.
