This! This right here is what I want. It’s a high fantasy, detailed and thought out story. Things did feel slow to start, a deliberate pace if you will as there’s so much world and character building in this series it’s necessary, it’s incredible honestly. 

Silla, her growth over this first book as series, was amazing, she’s independent and determined, though questions herself and her wants. 

There are loads of side characters to love and maybe loathe in due time. Hekla is a bad ass. And if you’ve read the series but not Heklas side story you MUST especially if you like feminine rage. 

There’s loads of representations in this book as well. And check your triggers.

There is spice, and Demi writes it perfectly. 

If you like a slow burn book for the story and a slow burn with a twist this is for you. 

The world and the characters are beautifully written. There’s monsters like a vampire deer. You have battles, both physical and emotional ones. 

If you loved this one, make sure to read Kingdom of Claw the second book in the series.

READ THIS!! This was so good. The magic system is so cool and found family being one of the biggest tropes makes it SUPERIOR
