Loveable characters: Complicated

The only thing I didn’t like about this book was that romantic interest

is not end game. This in and of itself is fine, but there were so many scenes with them together. I ended up skipping through those towards the end.

Otherwise, I loved the action and mystery. I’m excited to read the next one when my months long hold from the library is over.

Such a well written story! I usually don’t love Viking stories but this was very enjoyable.

Silla must travel the road of bones north in search of a safe house after losing her father. She steals into the wagon of the Blood axe crew and after she is discovered, must earn their trust in hopes that they will allow her to join them on the road.

The plot was well paced and you could sympathize with the motivations of all the characters. There was great character development overall, and the romance was believable.

I wasn’t quite sure about the magic system but hopefully it’s better explained in book 2.
