The beginning didn't really spark much interest for me and with how long it is being this far in and nothing really happening turned me off. I looked up a plot recap online and I don't think this book is for me. MMC - you cannot lie to me. MFC - Lies lies lies. Honestly surprised the MDF isn't dead yet.

I loved this book. Loved the FMC. I did think the first half dragged a bit and I didn’t understand why there was so much build up but the pay off in the second half was great. The romantic tension is wonderful. And the magic and politics is fabulous.

Loved the more unique Viking/nordic/icelandic setting to this fantasy world. The band of warrior misfits were so endearing and I loved each of their characters - Hekla and Silla’s friendship was so sweet. I enjoyed learning more about the magic system as the story progressed and the hints of lore and history were great. The Rey situation was confusing but in an interesting way. Jonas… loved and hated and understood him. Excited for the next book.
