This is the sequel we knew we needed.
Seven years after the release of The Way I Used To Be, author Amber Smith is sharing more of Eden's story.
Thank you to Simon & Schuster Canada for my gifted copy for review.
The Way I Am Now picks up with Eden and Josh reuniting, and working on a relationship. They're attending college in a different town, with new challenges and opportunities.
Looming in the dark wings, though, is Eden's hearing for the sexual assault we read about in The Way I Used To Be.
The characters are the same, but they've grown, matured.
Some plot points remain a bit up in the air, but personally I'm hoping that means we as readers will be privvy to another book someday!
For readers of The Way I Used To Be - absolutely recommended!
 For release on Nov. 7.

Thankful to have received an arc of this book in exchange for my honest review.

To say I was already deeply invested in this book before I even began would be an understatement. After just finishing 'The Way I Used to Be', I immediately dove in right where I left off in the first book, and was so excited to finally get the closure I needed for Eden and Josh's relationship.

This was a quick read for me, I absolutely could not put it down. I loved the characters development from the first story and getting to see what happened next for them and how they overcome their struggles with themselves and family. Expected a bit more from the ending in terms of the trial but overall a solid follow-up to the first novel.

Note: This review is for an ARC and is my unbiased opinion.

Amber Smith's The Way I Used to Be was a powerful, tragic, devastating, and haunting debut. The impact that book had on me when I read it... When I saw Smith was going to be releasing a sequel, I was both excited and a little nervous. I wanted to find out how Eden and Josh were doing, while at the same time I was worried about where they would be.

I didn't need to be nervous. Smith continued Eden's and Josh's journey in way that felt true to them and the original book. Nothing felt easy but everything felt right. They had a lot of ups and downs, a lot of wins and some losses. I loved seeing hope and love grow in and between them. This was a tough book to read at times but also a very rewarding one. I'm so happy Smith gave us a chance to find out what came next. It was worth every uncomfortable and sad moment for the happy ones.

Josh and Eden now in college, have to face what has kept them from truly being themselves to be together. A reconnection that isn’t without its challenges, this sequel was worth the wait.
