Whisper of Bones is the third installment in the intriguing Widow's Island series.
Tessa and Logan are investigating the death of a local contractor. The victim was not a well liked man and the suspect list grows with each interview. Through the course of the investigation Tessa stumbles upon a clue that ties to the mystery of her childhood friend who has been missing for twenty-years. Melinda Leigh keeps the reader guessing, and once again surprises us with an unexpected killer and motive while leaving us eagerly waiting for the next story in this series..

Tessa is still on Widow's Island and this time a body has washed up on the shores. The real estate developer/contractor has a lot of enemies, including an ex-wife who would be the first suspect... and an estranged current wife who is also suspicious... but there is far more to this story.

I like the ideas of these novellas, authored by two strong female authors, who alternate between strong female characters. They're the perfect length (can listen through one in 3 hours or less while at work!) and each story is somewhat believable. Despite being a small island, there is still a lot of crime here on Widow's Island.

Will continue on with the series, even though this installment has not been one of my higher-rated books of the group.

Mais uma história de detetives, rápida de ler, que nos apresenta não apenas crimes e suas soluções, mas as perspectivas dos agentes envolvidos nas investigações. Gostei. Agora estou procurando os outros da série.

Insight

I really like that we got to take a look into Logans nightmares. I like that he opened up and was able to admit he needed help. It was definitely a good character development for him. I also like reading about Tessas struggles with her mom and how to handle the dementia and taking care of her sister. I'm curious to see where the story goes for them.

4.5⭐

Whisper of Bones, book three in the Widow's Island series was a great read. Not just because it is such a descriptive and engaging tale. But because it was well written, absorbing and enjoyable. Plus, I liked how well paced it was and that it had a great blend of mystery and suspense. Not to mention the ongoing story arc involving Tessa, Cate and their missing best friend Samantha. And I was utterly gripped for the hour or so, it took to read, and can't wait to dive into book four and find out what happens next. Especially now that they've found a big clue in Samantha's case.

Would happily recommend to others.

Not bad

I'm on book three. I'm anxiously awaiting the endgame. In the meantime, the book fodder is good. Can't wait to see what's next.
