George Saunders is brilliant. Fox 8 is 49 small pages, and it will be one of the loveliest, funniest, saddest stories you will read. Upon finishing this I am sitting in my car crying, because this brief story reminds me of loss, hope, perseverance, cruelty and kindness. I am reminded what humanity means by a brilliant little fox.

"If you want your Storys to end happy, try being niser." 😭

Great concept, and it's a fun brain-bender to get used to the spelling (first-grade teachers will excel at this!). I felt there was a missed opportunity for deep poignancy here, but the message and emotions stayed surface level.
