Was this book good? Yes. Did It fulfill my expectations, surprisingly yes, though it wasn’t that high to begin with.
Her other series, things we never got over or whatever has a lot of mixed reviews. I can say the same for this.

It definitely is a slow burn… but there wasn’t any angst. It was always something happening yk? They were always flirting, fucking, or coaching. It wasn’t as angsty as others say. The book dragged at some points but you can skim over a few pages if you’d like to help. You don’t miss much.

Tbh I found more interest in the evolution of the team and Marley growing into her coaching and teaching positions over the relationships. There wasn’t any what ifs or whatnot so we know they were going to be together but yeah.

What also bothered me was the way she wrote soccer. Now I grew up playing soccer so this was very hard for me to follow and i played for 14 years

I'm rarely ever displeased by anything from Lucy Score. This was a great, light-hearted book to relax on the beach with. I've also decided from here that I love books with sports included in the mix. Will be looking for my next Lucy Score book to get into soon!

I'm a Lucy Score fan, but the FMC in this book made me want to throw my phone across the room, and hope is smashed into a million little pieces. I really would have given this 5 stars, but I had to knock one off because of Marley.

FMC Marley is whiny, bitchy, and simply unlikeable. She thinks everything that has happened in her life was terrible, and one soccer game she coached ruined the life she had started with Jake, the most eligible bachelor in their small town.

It could have been shorter and maybe had Jake get with someone else and leave Marley wallowing in her self-pity.

A 5-star book knocked down to 3 because of the absolutely terrible FMC.

the sweetest employee at @bnlibbieplacerecommended this one to me when she found me staring at a wall of romance books looking (probably) helpless — i told her i was working on a summer reading guide and looking for books that matched the vibe of different shows, and as soon as i mentioned parks and rec, she grabbed this one so fast!

it definitely has the quirky small town cast of characters like parks and rec does, but is set in a high school and features way more students and sports, which was fun!

you’ve got a struggling girls soccer team, drama and pranks between teams and coaches, an old flame reignited, the cutest parents, redemption arcs galore, and so many endearing characters.

if you’ve ever wanted to redo high school or get revenge on your old bullies or find your way back from rock bottom, you’d love this one!

This woman cannot write a romance for the life of her. Always overdoing the cheesy bits. I’m angry cause I love a good he falls first romance.

Why does no one talk about this book??? I loved it, low-key think it was better than knockemout series
