Overall this book was easy enough to read and interesting enough to finish. I didn’t really like any of the characters and the climax was kind of lame. Didn’t really like very much

Very propulsive! I went in blind and had never read any of Claire Fuller's books before. This is a perfect summer read, and one that would also be a good rut-buster. I might be a little harsh in my choice of 4 stars, because I can't really think of anything that would earn back that 5th star. I suppose I found the first part to be very inventive, interesting, and engrossing, and then it sort of became a little flat after a while and in the middle, as I trusted the end was leading somewhere. There is so much to discuss here! These characters are quite the complicated group of people.

This was a beautifully written book with a tight little mystery. 11 years ago, Ingrid Coleman disappeared from a deserted beach. Her two daughters, Nan and Flora, have very different ideas about what happened to her. Did she drown? Commit suicide? Run away? Their father, Gil, swears that he has seen her from a distance. The story of their unlikely relationship is partially told through letters that the mother has left in the pages of her husband's massive home library. Really? Who could ask for more – a mystery about sisters and about books. As soon as I read that I was all in.

Cleverly written, but, ugh...I didn't like any of the characters, and that's often a deal-breaker for me.
