This is a hard one to rate because it's funny, but it does go on a bit too long I think. The funny part is the amount of misery Volataire puts his characters through; it's not exactly a nuanced book. Pangloss teaches that everything in the world is for "the best", but his protege Candide begins to question that when faced with endless horrors that are often on the level of crimes against humanity. I really appreciated the ending of the book, which is the reason I rounded what should be 3.5 stars up to 4.

I love Candide and Pangloss' journeys trying to find "the best of all possible worlds." Voltaire's cynicism is still relevant and quite funny. I'd love to reread this one.
I loved the musical version of the book, and read it in high school...and loved the book. what wonderful satire!
re-read for E258 in 2012. Loved it again.

It's good but c'mon, that old woman was really half-assed.
Muito bom
Muito positivismo, talvez até demais
Merece 5 estrelas, mas não me marcou o suficiente para isso, de resto, é de rir e chorar por mais
