While I'm finding I enjoy the writing in the later entries in this series more than the earlier ones, this was as moody and atmospheric as the title and cover suggest and the perfect late autumn, nights closing in kinda read.

Okay, the murder mysteries are becoming a touch formulaic, but I'll admit that I'm more taken with Ruth and her relationships in every chapter. Though Nelson must have said "Jesus wept" about 150 times this book, I am still loving the series.

Enjoyed this story of old crimes coming back to haunt the present very much. Did not guess the identity of the murderer until right before the end -

It's great when a writer shows the real life struggle with parenting that many people go through in addition to their daily work / solving myseries / pining romances....

I really enjoyed the historical aspect of this book in the series, WWII has always been very fascinating to me so I was immediately drawn in. I was in TOTAL shock when the killer was revealed, I had a totally other idea in mind. Another great one!
