Star ⭐️😉 A love letter to love stories wrapped in a lovable love story.

What just happened to me?! I fell for this book HARD. This was the You’ve Got Mail revisionist retelling of my dreams. I’ve asked many people for a book that is “You’ve Got Mail where he doesn’t actually ruin her life.” 🔔🔔 WE HAVE A WINNER! 🥇

In the first half I was thinking, this book is pretty good—probably like a 3-3.5 star, but by the end I was swooning and squealing. He PINES for her, y’all. His inner monologue is *chef’s kiss* 🤌🏻😘 This is an enemies-to-friends-to-lovers slow burn, and the spice & romance is worth the wait! I even shed a tear during an intimate moment. 🥲

There are references to many other literary and romance tropes sprinkled throughout, lending self-awareness to the storytelling, and a sense that the author genuinely loves the genre. There’s an undercurrent of homage to the stories that inspire her, including many direct references to or quotes from other books and movies. (He brought daisies! True YGM fans know. 🌼☺️) Some of the internet chats or slang came across a little corny over audiobook, but I think that would be more easily understood in print.

The second half of this book swept me off my feet. I adored it. I may come back and change my rating to 5 stars if I decide to buy a copy!

I loved this for a lot of reasons. Book lovers, subtle Jewish representation, raw, relatable human emotions, real character growth & emotional connection over love at first sight. It was such a cute enemies-to-friends-to-lovers story with real problems to work though outside of just the relationship. I loved all the literary aspects throughout. As a Boston local, I enjoyed the references to places I recognized. As I've mentioned many times before, I'm not a fan of the miscommunication trope but this was done really well, with bonus points for how the big reveal was handled.

A really sweet romance-they had great chemistry from the start and it developed at a good pace and it had good humour.
