I thought this was book one in the seres and it isn’t.   Also the pacing is very slow for me.

Can't put it down!

Nonstop acton from start to finish. This book was a page turning delight, with no slow points. Character development was strong - you got a feel for everyone introduced and returning characters remained consistent with their growth.

While one can pick this book up blind, having the background knowledge to these characters is advised for the full story and why certain parts matter so much.

This is one of my favorite series and it definitely didn't disappoint!

Another day, another mystery Casey Duncan must solve without most of the assets a modern detective expects to have available to them. In this case, she finds a dead woman while following the sounds of a crying baby. While searching for the baby's parents and the identity of the woman, she and Eric also have to face the question of the future of their relationship as well as dealing with more unraveling of his past. The mystery is solid, but the inter-relationships of the characters and the danger in the setting are what makes this series shine.
