This story is cute. I like awkward characters. The chemistry is good.

Admittedly watch the drama before picking up the manga so was aware that it begins frivolously with little character development in favor of the main female character's firsts - boyfriend and sex (So definitely not for children!) The reader is made aware of her insecurities which stem largely from childhood bullying, but there is little emphasis placed on those events aside from her obsessive attention to her body odor. The only thing we learn about the main male character is that he has a really sensitive nose, is really good at his job, and is obsessed with the way the main female character smells.

Despite a bizarre first chapter, I found the rest of this manga extremely endearing and enjoyable. I am NOT a shoujo person, but I am well aware of how romance in any medium is usually saturated with miscommunication as a device to create contrived drama and this book does not have that. Both the main characters have such a healthy relationship, and the way they communicate is definitely a huge selling point for me. I love how adult and mature their relationship is and how they fix the issues that come up in their blossoming romance, it's so refreshing. Usually romance gives me secondhand embarrassment but this one was just so charming and believable, I really enjoyed it. Of course, it has its silly moments but I think that's par for the course so it's not that big of an issue. Very worth-reading!

This is a romance shoujo, so there are a lot of sex scenes but they're not too graphic or distasteful.cait's review against another edition

Does this manga start off a little weird? Yes. Is it still enjoyable, cute and adorable? Also, yes!
Although I admit the way, the characters met and how their romance begins to bloom is a little weird with the whole sniffing and falling in love with her scent. But I also low-key understand it because I love my husband sent and I love to smell him so I can only imagine what these two characters feel in those moments. I also love that these two characters have a mature emotional response when they are having a conflict or misunderstanding. it’s refreshing.
I also really enjoy the attic spice 😏 🥵
So I will say this, don’t knock it until you try it. Although I didn’t LOVE the first volume, I anticipate I am going to end up loving this manga series.

Really good first volume! I love the characters and their dynamic! Even though the premise of a guy fetishizing a woman’s scent is rather weird, the romance was actually very sweet and wholesome. I can’t wait to see where this office romance goes!

Sweetest, cutest, and most loving relationship I’ve seen in a book/manga. Open communication and clear love for their partner. I would kill and die for this book

'Sweat and Soap' by Kintetsu Yamada is a sweet if slightly strange romantic comedy manga about a girl who sweats a lot and a boy who is a perfume design and likes how she smells. It is a cute office romance that works well because both of the characters are so genuine. Asako is incredibly self-conscious about how she smells and seeing how Koutarou appreciates her while also making her feel loved and cared for is endearing to read. It can take a bit to get over the strange concept but the way that these characters interact with each other makes it easy to care for them. I can't wait to read more and see how their relationship develops.
