It’s called “the ruined” because the author somehow managed to ruin all her characters, the story, and the relationships!!!!! Just horrible!!!

I think there were some deaths that seemed rushed and could’ve been avoided. In that case, I feel the author was just trying to fill pages. Overall, it’s a nice conclusion to the serries.
Thank you!

After the lushness of the first three books, to say I was disappointed by The Ruined is an understatement. This is the most dissatisfied I have been with the ending of a series in recent memory.
Ahdieh's writing style is as gorgeous as always, but even that cannot save the plots and characters left unresolved, as well as the searing pain ofcallously killing off a character she just spent an entire book on . The changing of Celine's personality is unsettling at best and anger-inducing at worst, not to mention the complete disregard for the members of La Cour des Lions despite the characters' continued insistence that they are their chosen family.
Unfortunately, my good opinion of this quartet was ruined by The Ruined.

Holy crap this book sent me for a whirl. Honestly I thought this series was a trilogy and was frustrated that it wasn’t as I finished book 3 before book 4 had come out and this has continued since I bought book 1 new. Book 4 really did wrap things up in a tense and exciting way but with emotions that left me devastated. The conclusion and story of Celine and Bastien from this book hurt my heart and I almost wish the series ended at book 2 for their happy ending but this book was unique in showing the problems fictional couples have after their books end. I am glad they at least were open to trying again at the very end because I was so sad about them in this book. I read most of this in 1 sitting and am still reeling from the emotions.
