IF YOU DID NOT LIKE THE GAME OF THRONES TV SERIES ENDING YOU WILL HATE THIS BOOK!
I feel I'm being kind with this review. All the other books were good.... But this book is appropriately titled Ruined, because it ruined the whole series.

I fear the plot was, in fact, lost. This was def the worst one in the series, which is really not how you want to end a series. It felt like there was a page limit Ahdieh had to work with, which lead to bad pacing and massive loose strings. Both Celine and Bastien’s characters have felt flat to me in the last book, but they were nothing in this book. Their romance was nonexistent, and I was okay with that, because I wasn’t invested in them at all.
Do you know who I was invested in? Pippa and Arjun. I’m putting out a missing persons on Arjun in this book. Where was this man??? I really would have loved if there was more exploration in Pippa’s development, and if her and Arjun played an actual role in this book. Most characters felt like an afterthought in this book, to be honest (it is like we are just now remembering that Odette was deathly injured 2 books ago).
Also I didn’t even realize Arjun died. Like what even was that. Like one sentence. “He exploded, moving on”?? And no one seems to mourn? If it was just Jae who died, this would be more reasonable (but I do really wish Jae was flushed out more). But like one of the two main characters from the last book? What was the point of spending on that time with his and Pippa’s POVs to never use them??

Renée Ahdieh, I tried SO hard to understand why you took the final book in the series here and why, and I just couldn’t let go of my absolute discontent for the way everything came to a close.  I completely respect and admire giving the two main characters time to grow and develop individually, but WHAT WAS THAT ENDING?! 😩😠 Overall, I don’t regret reading the series. I completely ADORED book one, loved book two, felt pretty hopeful after three, but was left at the end with my feelings mirroring the title of this last one. [The] Ruined.
