Charlie Bone seems like just another normal kid, but in his family being normal is odd. Once Charlie thinks he is out of the woods that's when he starts to hear pictures talking to him. Once his family finds this out he is sent to Bloor's Academy, a school for "geniuses". The more that Charlie listens to pictures the deeper he finds himself in a secret that has been buried for years. A baby sold in exchange for a mysterious case, a strange man with flaming cats, a robotic dog that has a tape inside it, secrets about Charlie's father, and forces that want Charlie to be quiet or else. With his best friend Benjamin (and his dog Runner Bean), his Uncle Paton, and his newly founded friends at Bloor's will Charlie be able to figure out the truth before it is too late?

This book is somewhere between a children's book and young adult book. Very reminiscent of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter, this book is magical, creative, exciting, and full of twists and turns. The characters are so animated I imagined them as cartoon characters in my mind. The characters were all consistent, believable and they bounced off one another remarkably well. The plot builds with small peaks that build up to a great climax, the resolution was very satisfying as well. The author did a great job with her descriptions and setting, I had no problem with picturing the story in my mind. Her sentence structures were easy to read and understand, a very relaxing read. From beginning to end this book was wonderful. I wonder why this book hasn't been turned into a movie yet? I would rate this book a 5 out of 5 and I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone, especially those who are lovers of Harry Potter.

I first read this series in sixth-seventh grade and on a whim I decided to try it again. Im so glad I did.

While many reviews liken it to Harry Pitter, other than the setting I really didn't find many similarities. Sure, there's a school that's hard to navigate but, in my opinion, that's where the similarities end.

Midnight for Charlie Bone is a great start to the series and while it was written for a younger audience, I was thoroughly delighted by it.

Nice middle grade fantasy/horror/mystery book with nice main hero and interesting villains. Recommended for all fantasy lovers.

I really enjoyed this one as a kid and it actually holds up pretty well on a reread as an adult.

A Harry Potter, discovering magic within book and sent off to a special school where there are mysteries and evil headmasters. Charlie lives with his mom and aunt, his dad died in a car accident. Some strange things start happening - Charlie can hear and see photographs from the past talk. He has magical powers and is sent to a special school. He finds out more about his family and solves a mystery. First in a series. Sam liked them at 9-10 years old.

This again is a book series I discovered in middle school, maybe fifth grade, I really enjoyed the way that it was set up and how easy it was to follow as a longer book to read. I also enjoyed the different traits or endowments they have. I like that each endowment is unique to each character.

Amazing story, Unique!

Really interesting plot and easy to follow.

It was a bit jumpy and lacking of smoothness, the book could have been so much more. It had its charm, if only the author would have developed the story a bit more and written it a bit more complex!
