This was all sorts of wrong but I couldn’t stop reading

DNF at book 3
This series was interesting….
I won’t be continuing it. Book 1 had some type of intrigue that made me curious enough to read book 2.
And book 2 was just plain bad. I tried to give book 3 a shot to see if it could be redeemed.
It can’t.

Look, I love a dark romance and I will never begrudge what someone enjoys reading. If this is your kind of thing and you derive enjoyment from it then by all means—go for it! Love that for you!! I do not judge

It just was not for me. I enjoy dark romance where there are dark things happening but not when the toxicity and violence is between the main couple(s), specifically violence from the men to the woman.

This is a book with crazy trigger warning and to be honest, I don’t think the list even covers it.
There is flat out, on the page, explicit R8p. Disguise it as whatever you want, but that is what it is. There is serious domestic violence, crazy manipulation, really unlikable MMCs. Like we get it, they all have their struggles but no one has had it worse than the FMC and she didn’t become a psycho. These boys are spoiled and maniacal and they have no good reason for it imo.

This campus is literally just made up of frats that glorify SA and the book makes it this thing that these girls are fighting to be the victim of…? Idk it was bizarre and at a certain point, I lost the plot in all the mess of the violent SA.

These men deserve nothing and they are all disgusting. The shit they do to the FMC is horrendous and she just keeps going back… idk I don’t really get it. It’s not for me.

*Re-read*

Yeah still love this world. I had to put my feminism in the bin, but it’s just such a fun time so I’m not mad about it!

I don’t know if this would’ve been better as a physical book to read. I listened to the audio book and I won’t be listening/reading any of the following books for this series. I’ve read a lot of  smut this year, and enjoyed a lot of it, and I don’t even care that this book lacks plot. there’s nothing about the male characters that are appealing. They’re all grade a tool bags with no redeeming qualities. And the narrator’s chosen are barely sub par. I think they’re husband and wife but when the female is acting out the male parts almost every line is portrayed as if the guy is yelling each line, and I honestly cringed during many of the smut scenes because of it. It’s just not it for me ladies.

Looking forward to more

Great start to the series. Enemies to lovers, step brother and brothers best friends. The twists and turns of this book keeps you on your toes and keeps you guessing. I have a guess on who Ted is and can't wait to see if I'm right. You can tell the guys are growing some, but not sure if they are maturing enough. Only time will tell.

This book has everything I love and hate in a dark romance:
Love- obsessed mmcs, explicit noncon/ dubcon scenes, danger from inside and outside the house.
Hate- dumb fmc, miscommunication, stupid fmc, everyone being ridiculously good-looking, did I mention a fmc who is dumb af and makes idiotic decisions?
