It’s a rare romance novel that gets 5 stars from me, and I had my reservations about this book going in, so I was shocked at how much I enjoyed this. I think the biggest draw for me was how layered all the relationships were. Years of history together really informed every relationship in this book, and they were different for different people. It’s a depth and breadth that most romance novels miss the mark on. The romance felt realistic, and the family relationships did too, filled with all those things that go unspoken and adding delicious juicy tension at all the right parts. I picked up the next book immediately which is also very rare for me!
