Onley James did it again. This book did everything for me. It had some Criminal Minds vibes with the FBI profiling shenanigans, which was interesting. August and Lucas are such an unlikely pairing, but they worked perfectly. The addition of a paranormal aspect was unexpected, but it really worked. The story was great, the spice was hot, and any scenes with the Mulvaney clan were always a joy. There's darkness, there's humor, there's romance, there's action, and of course, there's smut. What more could you want?

TW: torture, knife play, mentioning missing and murdered native women & girls, BAD mental illness rep, an autistic character described as emotionless and has every autistic stereotype ever.
After reading this review, I've decided that I don't want to read any more of this series or any other book from this author. This book portrays an inaccurate picture of mental illness. Being a psychopath, autistic, or with any mental illness DOES NOT make you a murderer or crazy.
This book is harmful in so many ways. The whole premise of the series is just the use of violence as a tool for these very badly written psychopaths to kill and be justified. These acts of violence are very real and impact marginalized people.
I rather read books that don't uphold harmful stereotypes and use trauma and violence with obviously no care or inccurate research.

Together, they are perfection.
"I don't care that we barely know each other. It's just you. You're the one for me, and if I can't have you, I'd rather not exist anymore" /swoooon/
This book is the perfect balance of smutty and plotty.
I always like to see autistic representation in books, even if here, the autistic part is mixed with the psycho part.
