This had a few nicely intense scenes, and the bits that were told from the viewpoint of the dog itself were cool, but overall this was just OK. The author admits that he wrote this at the height of his alcohol addiction, and doesn't even remember writing it, and it kind of shows. This novel is a bit of a mess, and not as tightly plotted as many of the other King novels I've read. There are several side plots that don't really contribute much to the central story, and this might have been more effectively told as an intense novella just featuring the scenes involving the dog! To get the most out of this book, I recommend reading King's novel The Dead Zone (1979) first, since he references the events of that book several times in Cujo. Luckily, I'm reading this as part of a publication-order read of King's novels, so I got the references (even if they were kind of weird). Is he saying that Cujo is possessed by the spirit of the serial killer from the Dead Zone?</spoiler/> Not the best book, but Cujo is kind of iconic. Poor doggie!

Im so glad I stuck with this story. It is a very slow starter for sure and takes a good 3/4 of the book before it starts getting really good. There is a long slow, very character heavy, build up. Although Cujo gets infected quite early on in the story, it isn't until the end when he looses his sh*t and the 'monster' shows its face.
Dont get me wrong, the side stories of the 3 main families are also good, just not what I was expecting from a story about a Rabid dog.
And, that ending... just woah... that was hard hitting and I didnt see it ending that way. Would I of liked a certain person to survive? Of course! However, this will definatley keep the story in my mind by ending the way it did.
Also, the way King makes you feel sad, and sorry, for Cujo at the end was a great touch... after all he was a 'good boy' and none of this was really his fault.
I would give this a 2.5 stars up until the final act, and then push it up to 3.5 overall...!

It wasn’t what i espected, and i feel like this isn’t his best novel, it was a bit too long. But overall i enjoyed seeing how everyone was somehow involved into the overall story.
Tho why Ted?!

I didn't actually finish this, but after 6 hours of my life wasted I'm saying I did anyway. So much wasted potential and so much ungodly filler.
If not for the fact that we kinda get Cujo's pov, I think I could have continued reading this book... but we do get his doggo pov and I just can't read that, it makes me too sad (in a not good way, ya know).
Unnerving tale, but I found myself getting more and more engaged with this story. And it became harder to stop and wait before I could read on.
