No one and I mean no one does sweet and sexy quite like author Lauren Layne. For Better or Worse is the second book in The Wedding Belles Series and is a truly delightful read. This book is fun, flirty, sexy and thoroughly entertaining.

Told from dual points of view, For Better or Worse follows the story of Josh and Heather. Heather has always loved planning weddings, so went off to New York to pursue the career she always wanted. Heather is on top of the world. She has the job she wants, with a promotion just in her grasps, she’s planning the wedding of the season, and she’s got the apartment she’s always dreamed. There’s just one problem….Her loud neighbor….If you asked Josh, he would tell you that he couldn’t be happier with the state of his life. He’s in a band and no longer deals with the stress of the normal 9-5, he’s got his choice of women and is just living the kicked back, relaxed lifestyle. He didn’t realize he was missing anything until his new neighbor came along. At first his feisty neighbor, is nothing more than a nuisance to him, but the more time he spends with Heather, the more he can’t get her out of his head. He feels a pull towards her that he can’t explain, but his past keeps him from letting anyone get close. Will Heather be the star of her own dreams? Will Josh finally take a chance on love? Will Josh finally wake up and start living?

I have to say, I really enjoyed this book. I fell in love with Josh and Heather from the very beginning. Their banter was just so much fun. They both gave as good as they got, and I loved the way that they challenged one another. Josh did frustrate me at times. Sure, he was broody and private. But, I hated how closed off Josh would get with Heather. The moment she tried to ask for details in his life, he would just clam up or snap at her. However, once I learned the secret that he was harboring, I began to understand this quiet, brooding man. I wanted to reach into my kindle and give him a hug. I wanted to tell him that everything was going to work out and that he can’t be afraid to live his life.

What I really loved about Josh and Heather, was their chemistry. The minute they got around each other, you could just feel the sparks flying. When they weren’t fighting or challenging one another, they made their “relationship” look effortless. They were like magnets, they couldn’t resist the pull they felt for one another. Josh and Heather didn’t plan on falling in love, but a connection like theirs could not be denied. And before either one of them realized it, they ending up doing the very thing they set out to not do.

For Better or Worse is a wonderful enemies to lovers/second chance romance. Josh and Heather’s story is well written and will take you on an emotional journey. Lauren Layne has once again provided me with a beautiful story and characters that I couldn’t help but fall in love with. For Better or Worse has just the right amount of humor, angst, drama and romance. And while this book does deal with some serious subject matter, there is just the right amount of humor to balance out all the heavy.

For Better or Worse is a fantastic addition to The Wedding Belles Series and I can’t wait to see who’s story will be next!

Favorite of these three.

Josh and Heather sizzled with chemistry from the start! Heather is an up and coming wedding planner with her first ever solo gig, sucks that the bride wants the Plaza, in three months! There is a trigger here, Josh is a survivor of Leukemia. He's in remission but he's reverted to "an overgrown frat boy" mentality. He, of course, hides his past well until it comes out of the bag but by then he's pushing Heather away. I read this one without stopping. I loved Trent and Josh's mom! I love how Josh help Heather find some time to unwind. MMM... I have a craving for some good banana bread... I sure won't ask Heather to make it!! ;)

I read the novella that started this series earlier in the summer. It was my first Lauren Layne book, and while I didn't love it, it certainly intrigued me enough to read more. And this one didn't disappoint.
I really loved the fun relationship between Heather and Josh. I love the banter between the two of them. Josh was swoony, and I really empathized with his internal struggles. Heather wasn't my favorite character, but I definitely liked her more and more as the book progressed. The supporting cast was great, and I'll definitely be reading Booke and Alexis' stories.

Every time Lauren Layne publishes a new book, I think to myself “THIS one is my favorite yet!” Well, she absolutely outdid herself with “For Better or Worse” (I say this EVERY time—but it’s true!!!). This book is everything you want in a romantic comedy. It’s charming, witty, and completely engrossing. I read this book from cover to cover in one afternoon (something I often find myself doing with Layne’s books).

Lauren Layne has her formula down to an art and I love everything about it. I see it, I respect it, and I will continue to read and love everything this woman publishes. This was my kind of story. We follow Heather Fowler, assistant wedding planner, as she crosses over into the life of official wedding planner (days away from her new promotion). She’s recently moved into her fancy new apartment and has landed the biggest celebrity wedding of the year. BUT she finds herself being kept up at night by her extremely attractive and hard-to-resist playboy neighbor, Josh. They obviously don’t get off on the right foot and witty banter/sexual tension ensues. I can’t help myself—I love it when the characters don’t get along from the start. It’s a fantastic way to build up tension so that when they finally get together: BAM! Fireworks. Spoiler alert? ;)

I enjoyed Heather immensely. She’s a strong, independent woman—someone who puts her wants/needs above her desire to find a man. I appreciated her passion for her work and her goal-oriented mindset. These qualities made her so relatable and totally worth rooting for. It made it that much more exciting to watch her fall in love and get her fairytale ending.

If you’re looking for a delightful, romantic read—look no further than “The Wedding Belles” series. Or really, anything written by Lauren Layne!

Note: I received a FREE ARC (advanced reader copy) from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I loved absolutely everything about this book. The characters, the storyline, the series as a whole. It's sweet, sexy, thoughtful, and moves at the perfect pace!

So many tears for this one. Ugh.

Chemistry: Off the charts Scorchio

One-Sentence Summary: When neighbours become something more

Review: When I first read the summary for this book, I have to say it didn't give me any real excitement; to me, this book was just the filler before we got to Logan/Alexis's story.

But ohmygod I loved it.

It's not the usual friends-to-lovers story in that Heather and Josh aren't friends for a longtime before they get together and they acknowledge their attraction early on, even if they don't cross the line for awhile. There is fun neighbourly banter and I loved the whole 4A/4C nicknames.

Also refreshing is the fact that it's the guy who has the secret and the angsty past that he is hiding underneath his happy-go-lucky attitude.

This was a fun, flirty read and everything you could want from a Lauren Layne romance ..... (apart from the whole use of the word "bullocks" (should be bollocks)).

Josh is living a life that embraces the here and now. There’s a beautiful woman every day, a different beautiful woman. He’s embracing music and doing what he loves every day. But when he meets his feisty, sassy and sexy next door neighbor, he begins to wonder if he should hope for more. Heather is a successful wedding planner with everything she’s ever dreamed of within her reach. She’s determined not to let her sexy and carefree, playboy neighbor derail any of her plans or goals.

Josh and Heather are so fantastic! Their witty banter and snappy dialogue will keep the pages turning at a brisk pace even while the steamy scenes threaten to fog-up your Kindle! The premise is fun and unique and the characters and story are clean, concise and so well-written. It’s a quick read that’s thoroughly delightful from beginning to end! If you’re a sucker for a sweet romance with great characters and a fantastic HEA, this is a definite one-click!
