I still struggle reading this book in the series. I’ll often skip it or skim it when rereading. Just because of the tension.
Graphic: Murder and Physical abuse
Moderate: Emotional abuse, Abandonment, Adult/minor relationship, Death of parent, Injury/Injury detail, Suicidal thoughts, and Toxic friendship

I really loved this book. It sent me on an emotional roller coaster, and was even surprising at times. I would have rated it five stars, but I don't like how the characters treat sex as something that is not out of the norm in a teenager's life (which for many, it isn't, but that's not what I believe to be right). However, when it did happen, which was only once, it was tastefully done, aka not too graphic.

I couldn't grab the sequel to Reason to Breathe quick enough! The story and characters were compelling and I was hooked.
This book only heightened my concern for Emma and the decisions that she was making - just when I thought the worst was over! The tension and pace were great.

Great 2nd book in the series. Deep & emotional, not a light read.

ok, so to be totally honest, if I could, I would give this book 4.5 stars. It misses the 5, only because of the awkward nook version i read. there were inappropriate question marks throughout my copy. almost like it was edit questions.
but, the book itself was good. lots of action, lots of emotion. given my personal history, i found myself putting it down at points just to catch my breath. what i mean is that sometimes the story too closely mimicked my life at emma's age. her life was MUCH more extreme though. i also found myself wanting to scream at her. she was perfectly 17.
but what made me give this book such a high rating is that i picked up moods. when emma was happy, so was i. when she was depressed, mad, whatever, so was i . i really gave my family a hard time in the 24 hours it took me to read it. this, to me, is the mark of a good story.
lastly, i wanted to just comment on the ending. it is such a cliff hanger, that i am almost upset that i need to wait for the next one to come out. and as there is no date even scheduled yet is killing me.
good read, but perhaps not vacation reading.
