I found it hard to root for the main couple just because they were both kinda awful people, and I really didn’t like Chloe as the lead character (but that may be due to the audiobook).

But I really liked how McQuiston wrote the friendships and developed the characters.

Not too bad for a YA romance, and not too bad for my first Casey McQuiston novel.

This is a book I could have used at the end of my senior year of high school, and I’m so glad it is out in the world now. The only reason it doesn’t get a full five stars is because the middle act of the story lost my attention, and I did struggle to get though a few chapters. However, the last act gave me the warm and fuzzies.

Shara Wheeler goes rouge and disappears, so close to the end of the school year when she could be named Valedictorian. She leaves a number of hints behind and leads Chloe (the other Valedictorian contender), Smith (her boyfriend), and Rory (her neighbor) on a wild goose chase. The trio doesn't really know or care for each other, but this mystery brings them together.

Will Chloe's focus on this crazy situation pull her away from her studies and her friends that have been there for her? How will it affect her senior year?

I liked how Chloe wasn't fully likable or perfect. It made the book more interesting and intricate. It made it stand out more. For some reason, my favorite character was Ace (I guess I love a himbo; also, I think if there's a character named Ace I have an obligation to like them because I myself am ace). The pacing of this book is WAY better than their others. I love the tone their books have. It's similar to the real world, but more open and clearer. Maybe because they highlight many queer stories at once? The last part of the book went a way I was NOT expecting, but I found it fun.
