Read for Year 2 Module Contemporary Literatures.
At the moment I'm writing an essay on this, and before I'd even read 90% of the book I'd decided to pick this to be my essay text, purely because of how Brenda Chamberlain's life struck me, and how similar she was to myself. The Water-castle reflects on the experiences she had with a distant love in an eerie, haunting manner, and whilst it's confusing a lot of the time, I think that's part of the charm of her whimsy.
