Two unconventional people desire to fake a courtship in order to keep up with their unconventional lives.
I really enjoined the main characters of this book Adeline and Daniel. They each had their own goals, healing and inventing respectively, but the author did a good job making them well rounded. They didn’t just have “careers” that made them different for the time period just for the sake of it.
The attraction is there right away, but it takes long enough for it to bubble over, but not too long where it just fizzles.
Overall, I thought it was an enjoyable read.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thank you NetGalley.

The story was an easy read. The romance was sweet and charming. I do have questions of during the ti e period, would the Ton be as open arm of acceptance of an Indian lady marrying a Duke of English nobility? The story moves pretty fast. There are entertaining moments, I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I received this book as an Advance Reader Copy in return for a fair review. It is much like it’s brethren in he regency romance genre, though probably a little above par. What concerns me is this recent move to force diversity into the genre. This feels too much like tokenism. While there was some rare moments of diversity within the regency peerage, we must not fool ourselves. This was a very white and very exclusive club. The recent move to try to make the world more exotic and more welcoming among romance writers feels forced. I am all for diversity but it needs to be authentic not forced to fill some sort of quota.
I actually loved this book. My only problem was how they dealt with Mr. Slade. He was a massive villain to the rest of the ton too and they ignored everybody just so she didnt have to deal with him anymore. I mean, happy for them, I guess.

“From the moment her pet pig attacks him, Adeline Foster she does not care at all for the Duke of Warwick”
Well guess what, Adeline, I DONT care at all for you or your story.
If I had to describe this in a word, I’d choose ‘Boring’.
Positives:
-The writing wasn’t BAD.
-it was definitely better than the last historical romance I read ‘The Duke’s secret Cinderella’
-enjoyable. At times.
Negatives:
-I didn’t like Adeline.
-I hated her LI and thought he was basic.
-pacing was ALL OVER THE PLACE
Thank you Netgalley for an ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Enjoyed this more than I thought I would. The writing style made it very easy to read and enjoy. I found the story itself to be very sweet.
Bc they are fake "dating" they were kind of forced to spend some time together. There was definitely an instant attraction between them but their feelings developed slowly. The more time they spent together and talking the more they started liking each other.
I really liked both characters. They were very passionate in their work, him as an inventor and her as a healer. What I liked the most though was how supportive they were of each other. Even when they couldn't understand what the other did they always asked questions and just seemed genuinely curious to know more about them.
I dislike her brother so much. The only good thing he did was bring them together besides that he could get lost and I wouldn't care.
Her sister Mary, I liked her character. But Finding out she was older than Adeline threw me way off. The way they cared for her and talked about her made it seem like she was way younger to me.

It's one of those historical fiction books that you will find impossible to put down. The story is great, but the thing I love the most is the characters. Both Adeline and the Duke of Warwick are interesting, quick-witted, unconventional for their time, and loveable. Separately, they are two of the best fictional characters I have read in a while. Together, they are perfection. I thoroughly enjoyed their romance, and I highly recommend this book to other readers.
Adeline is a half-English and half-Egyptian woman who not only learned the social norms of English society but also learned the family values of her mother's people. She is a healer and all she wants to do is help other people and ease their pain.
The Duke of Warwick is an inventor and a recluse. Some believe him to be quite mad. But all he wants is to work on his next best idea and invent something that will make life easier for others. He just wants to serve his country in any way possible. And having a rational mind, inventing seems like the best option.
Running away from society, the two find each other in the country. And their lives will never be the same. What starts as a ruse, soon turns into reality. Now, they must face their inner demons and find out just how much they love each other.
P.S. I received a complimentary copy of it via NetGalley. The review is my honest opinion and has nothing to do with the author or the publisher.
