I'm actually dropping this down from my original rating because after rereading, I really never warmed up to Ev (even though the blog snippets at least gave some indication about his feelings).

Didn't like the love interest and their dynamic in this one as much. This also felt like a case of too many big issues and not enough time to work through them all: grief, older siblings raising younger ones, biphobia, cancer, family death.

In the realm of m/m romance novels, this was upper echelon, but not truly amazing, if that makes sense. Like. It was very readable, but there were some cringeworthy moments of dialog and it was written in the dreaded first person.

This is my first book from this series, so I'm treating it as a stand-alone.

I was initially drawn to the fuzzy fabulous cover and was hoping to get some more woolly good feels from this. Give me two hot guys, a pair of knitting needles, some soft yarn and Voilà!- bring on the cosy penis warmer!

Alas, there are no willie warmers here (although there may be a few pairs of comfy socks, although none used in any other way than intended). There was actually quite little sexy time and those that were featured didn't really make me slide off my chair (hey, not judging kinks here, just saying I like my boys getting really dirty, especially in fictional sheets and there just wasn't enough for my taste).

Just so I don't sound like an MM nympho who feels short-changed, there's a lot I did like about the book- I was intrigued by Brady and the challenges he faces to keep his family together and afloat, I wanted to learn more about the secondary characters and the ladies from Knit Night sounded bitchy and batty, so nothing wrong with that. And yes, I did cry and get hit in the gut with feels.

The downside however is that I didn't really connect with Evren, couldn't hear his voice in my head (I mean that literally and figuratively) and that made rooting for a happy ending a tad challenging. Their relationship just didn't really sound like something one would fist pump about and I felt Brady deserved someone who could give him more (like the things that he likes in bed...).

This might not be a total win for me but I am intrigued to check out the previous 3 books in the series.

ARC is provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Not my favorite. Random biphobia as obstacle. Unrealistic dialogue. If you’re looking for something very calm and conservative I can see you enjoying this.

While this isn’t the most romantic of the series, I still loved it. The story, situations of the characters and the characters themselves were unique and refreshing.

Evran made me a little mad when he just totally shunned Brady at the beginning and his reason for doing so wasn’t a great one. But you could tell his walls weren’t going to be up long even after that. Both men are going through some pretty tough and heavy stuff in their lives and it takes a minute for them to realize how much easier it would all be if they relied on each other to get through it all.
Evran is a bit formal and standoff-ish…I’m guessing partially because of culture and partially because of his parents’ treatment of him. With Brady’s help, he lets his guard down a little and shows a bit a playfulness hidden under all the formality.

Brady is surprisingly fun loving and a little carefree considering all the responsibility he has resting on his shoulders. He provides the perfect balance for Evran and really just wants to be loved, wholly for who he is and what he does.

There are strong family ties and a lot of great characters. The ending was absolutely perfect for me!
