Second read: Nov 2021 (4 stars)

I don't think I've done a full reread of this series so it's high time to start it all over again seeing as there will be a new book in early 2022 (I think). I probably enjoyed this even more than the first time because I already know how Mercy and Adam's relationship develops over these books so I can just sit back and enjoy their courtship. BTW, I think Adam is lovely. He's the kind of low-key alpha I could probably adore IRL.

Mercy is a mechanic and when a teenager(Mac) stumbles into her shop one day kind of bloody asking for work she takes him in even when she realizes he's a new werewolf and they don't have the greatest control.  When she finds Mac being threatened by a human and a werewolf one night things take a rather abrupt and apparently twisty turn causing mayhem, death and kidnappings.
This was compelling fun mostly based around Mercy's attitude and strength, there's nothing super different about the story from the usual werewolf fare but I really enjoyed this.

In 288 pages, Patricia put so much of the world building and character without giving them much of characterization. Besides Marcy and Adam, Bran and Samuel seem most interesting.

I agree with the terrible covers lol but don't let them fool you. I enjoyed this more than I expected to. I feel I need to re-read it since I was a little confused about a couple characters but I loved the main characters enough to enjoy the story. And I definitely ended this wanting to read the next. A little nervous about getting sucked into a world with so many books but is that really so bad???

Very slow, if you’re looking for a good story, this has one but it takes forever to get to the point while the author continues to reexplain things you already know.
