Wow, this was all sorts of beautiful. Read it quick because it's mostly composed of couplets (no surprise there, haha), but its length did not detract from the story at all. I would argue that it made the story hurt more! There's something about purposeful brevity... and Millner knows how to use as few words as possible to achieve great impact. I felt for the character -- in many ways I think about sexuality similarly, so perhaps that's why (and sexuality is the main thread/theme/etc of the work). Love is hard, love is good, love is soft... all sorts of things. Read this!!
This novel through verse felt like the memoir of someone discovering their identity through a queer love story. It’s one of the most beautiful, lyrical poetry collections I have ever read. It was raw and true when examining the dichotomy of love, life and the constant fight for happiness, our perception of satisfaction.
I absolutely loved it, and have already began to reread my favourite sections. No matter when you read this, how close you are to the text, how far, you will always be able to grasp your own meaning of Millner’s stunning words.
