DID NOT FINISH

This book is not for me. Little girls missing is one thing, but little girls being kidnapped in the night by a violent man is something else entirely. As the mom of a little girl, I could not finish

I’m on a mission to read every Rebecca Ross book out there, and it seems I’ve struck gold with this mission of mine. This author knows how to make me cry with every book she writes, at this point you can call me a masochist.

I was going through a busy time and reading slump, so it actually only took me a few days to read this book. Once I got into the meat of the plot it was so engaging! This reminded me of a less viscerally intense Outlander. A lot of very upsetting stuff happened in Outlander that left a bad taste in my mouth. I much prefer when things are alluded to without forcing me to picture every detail.
Anyway, some author trademarks from Divine Rivals showed up here which I’m okay with because I LOVED DR. There were a lot of great surprises and twists that I didn’t see coming.
I didn’t expect to enjoy Sidra’s storyline as much as I did. The one really weird thing was when she spontaneously visited her brother, who she hadn’t seen in years, exchanged maybe 5 words with him, and then left without saying goodbye. That scene could have been fleshed out a bit more.
Reading the sequel next!!
