So this series is a good one.... I think I'm done with it. The writing is good, the premise very interesting, the secondary characters are fun and likable, and the main plot engaging. The problem? This storyline is dragging a lot. I feel like the author is trying to express that time is elapsing, but the action itself and the behavior of the characters is like no time is elapsing... they are still having the same conversations and the same actions as the previous books. It's really starting to bug me how much I just want this to GO! I mean, damn. And this guy, Roan; and the other dude, Dylan? Holy crap are they starting to annoy the shit out of me. As I'm typing this review I can feel myself getting agitated thinking of them.

I really like Holden and Scott, Grey is fantastic, I missed Tank and could read more about Kevin. Things need to get resolved and Roan needs to get his head in gear quickly or I'm just not going to do this series anymore.

OH! And another thing... for me to believe that Dylan is as much in love with his lost ex (Josh) as much as Roan is still in love with and obsessed with Paris, I desperately need more convincing. The fact that Roan is still emotionally and mentally more attached to a dead man is absolutely blatant; this love between Dylan and Roan is a farce (or something slightly less emphatic). I see absolutely no attachment between them and the fact that Dylan can get through to the "lion" is just not enough. Roan is killing himself to be with Paris, that is not showing a real love for Dylan at all. This relationship is a mess of co-dependency and strangeness.

This book grew on me as I read. I wasn't thrilled with the way it started. I just disliked Holden getting to "rail" at Roan, when that should be Dylan. And I thought the rest of the book would be more of the same, but it wasn't. Holden started to grow on me. Maybe because there seemed to be little Holden/Roan scenes so I wasn't beat over the head with how Holden "knows a side of him" he has to keep from poor wittle Dylan who is too kind and would never understand RME. I actually enjoyed Holden and Scott and how their relationship progressed. I still feel bad for Dylan. Roan treats him like crap and he just takes it. Roan lies and lies and lies, and Dylan knows and just lets it go. I wish he had more respect for himself. Some times I see it, but most of the time he seems like little more than caretaker/sex toy for Roan. I hate how everyone kept referring to him as Roan's "boyfriend". THEY ARE MARRIED. Now some of that was from people who just would never accept two men as married, but some of it was from people who should know better. To me it comes off as belittling Dylan's place in Roan's life. Roan really needs to get the heck over it already. The self pity is so hard to keep reading. It would help a lot if progress was made, but he seems stuck in a cycle of self loathing and it's exhausting. Suck it up Buttercup. You're different. It could be worse. The mysteries were okay, but they were all fairly obvious and quickly wrapped up, with no impact on the main characters.
