The excellence of this book is lost on me. I do know that although I can't find the meaning, reading these poems aloud moved something inside my heart.

lots to unpack here!!! not going to rate it bc i’m still feeling out my taste for poetry and honestly i may have to revisit this collection later. all in all, enjoyed and felt his words deeply - i just dont have the words yet to articulate what exactly i felt reading these poems. excited to read more.

“Cenzontle” is my favorite poem in this collection and it’s the first in the book so I don’t even need to bookmark it!

This is the kind of book where I want to recommend it because of voice/content but I also didn’t really… like reading it. Not my kind of poetry but also powerful and worth reading.

Beautiful... and confusing... and I am going to need more time with this, reading and studying it. But mostly beautiful, which is why it's worth the extra time.

Writing this review feels dishonest considering the relationship I personally have with poetry where I am mostly unable to understand the poetry of others and I don't have a particular interest for it. However, this was a nice read and I liked it.

This collection is so emotional and so queer and flows like the smoothest river you’ve ever seen. Castillo writes incredible imagery, and I’m so glad I picked this up. Amazing!!
