Dull and disappointing. Beside one early jarring shift from “why would anyone wish him harm” to “yeah he was at the center of a circle of terrible people”, there is no intrigue here. Who you think did it did it fit the boring reasons you might guess, and the attempt to provide a novel hook via an eccentric informant is just... bleh.
