i was not a fan of this if i am honest. it was an easy read in that it didn't take much brain power for me to read but i kept putting it down because i hated the writing. the premise was somewhat unique though and that got me to finish but i just don't think it was enough. 'bad writing' is fairly vague but (despite the attempt with noah) there was little to no depth or development for the characters nor their relationships. the dialogue was painful to read; a lot of it felt like in some fantasies where the author needs to infodump and just uses dialogue to do it, which comes off stilted and unnatural at best. i didn't like the pacing either, but that could just be me being nitpicky because i wanted it to be over faster rather than an objective flaw. also at no point during this book did i understand why noah and maya fell for each other - just physical attraction and vibes from what i could see - and it was beyond unsatisfying to read about them together. this feels like a book that i will completely forget within 3 hours but i've heard that the series gets better at some point, so i'll probably return to it later.

Well, I didn't think I liked contemporary romance, and sports romance sounded incredibly boring... BUT this was surprisingly fun! I did get bored in some of the racing parts, but they weren't too bad. I think the author has a good understanding of psychology. The MMC's emotional issues made perfect sense with his background, and I was so impressed with how he went about overcoming them!

that .5 was extremely generous of me

basically an f1 fanfic (my bet is on verstappen personally, also try to tell me jax isn't literally lewis lol) featuring sincerely atrocious writing, the blandest characters on earth, small mistakes regarding how f1 works sprinkled everywhere (which, as a chronic f1 fan and someone who pays close attention to details, it killed me) and the cheesiest, cringiest 50 pages to finish it off

i'm surprised i managed to get through it tbh i was fighting for my life to not dnf it around the 60% mark

the silly season wasn't silly enough this year to keep me entertaining and this is what happened 😭 but at least the summer break is almost over and good ol' f1 will be back soon, amen

also, nsfw:
is it normal for someone to get as many boners as this man did. like are we sure he doesn't need to see a doctor or smth. the only time in the book where he doesn't have a boner is the epilogue. i'm concerned

I haven’t had very high expectations going in, but somehow this book really catched me. I’m a very slow reader, but read this on one day, which happened years ago the last time. Reading this made so much fun. Finally it is not an arrogant, overly jealous, socially weird and awkward and most times toxic Loveinterest. I wasn’t a fan of books like the fine print for exactly this reason. (No offence to fans of that. Just not my thing) This was so different from that. Loved it. I had lost hope to find a romance book like this again, since I felt like every book is like the descriptions above.

let me preface my review with this simple statement:
WHAT DOES LAUREN ASHER PUT IN HER BOOKS??
This has to be my favorite read of the year thus far. Who knew that a romance about an F1 racer would be so fun, steamy, and intriguing? I read this book in two days, choosing it over television or the other books I’m currently reading. This novel caused me to fall in love with the luxurious lifestyles and lives of these racers as well as the amazing stars of the show, Maya and Noah.
Let me tell you, as a first time reader of Lauren Asher, this woman can write men. I rarely find myself swooning over fictional guys, but Noah Slade had me in a chokehold. I am BEYOND excited to continue the series.

Lauren Asher never fails. I didn’t think I’d go for the whole bad-boy racer thing but damn if Throttled changed my mind.

I think Noah & Santi’s relationship could have been a bit more fleshed out. Also, someone who has been the vicitm of childhood and domestic violence does not get over it after a few weeks of therapy.
