Rick Warren reduces the observance of the Christian faith into vapid platitudes.

This book was inspirational and full of great quotes. A good one to have on the bookshelves and highlight for some great bible passages. I didn't stick with the read a day for 40 days because I got very busy, but overall, it was a good read and I had always been curious about it.

Started the year off reading some books that will help me grow mentally, spiritually and emotionally-- this classic did not disappoint! Rick Warren is so laid back as he shares the truth of God's word and discovering his purpose for our lives. The book talks about servanthood, practicing self forgetfulness, revealing your weaknesses to help others, and much, much more. It rekindled the importance of life and mission. Great read to set the new year!

3.75. Had never read this. The principles hold up. Some of the illustrations could be updated 20 years on.

This book wasn't what I was looking for, and in many ways wasn't aligned with my beliefs about God and life in general.
Toward the end there seemed to be an awful lot of promotion of the author's other books, which is a turn-off for me, as well.
I did finish it because there were a few things that were interesting to me, but I wouldn't read another by this author.

Helpful overall in focusing on my spiritual life, and why God placed me on earth, as well as made me who I am. Very affirming in a way.

Helped me realize how one of my purposes is to serve and inspired me to get more involved with my church!
