Between reading this and the first volume of Guardian I think it's safe to say I like the danmei set in ancient China more.

This wasn't bad and I am still going to pick up the second volume but this was a little too slow for me. The first half felt a little like a drag but the second half was so much better and easier to get through. There were too many characters introduced in the first half and mind couldn't keep up with it in the beginning. But I really like the little build up.

I really loved this! I love all the characters so much and the way they interact with each other. Jiang Cheng and Gu Fei know who they are and it’s so fun to read about them and their interactions.
