The book was enjoyable, definitely. Lots of humor, characters who were very human and made very human mistakes. Lots of personality and a bit of back story for each of them, though I wish there had been a bit more about Felix and Jason, who were both great and funny characters.
The issue Jasmine had with her dad was interesting and believable, but I wish it had been resolved more than they way it was at the end. They were taking baby steps when the book ended, which is fair I suppose.
Jasmine and Sean. One of my favorite parts of the book. Their relationship was great and realistic and flawed and just so nice.
Veta and Jasmine's friendship was perfect too. Very cool and cute :)
All in all, a 4.6/5

I enjoyed this book. I selected it purely based on the cover (to satisfy an adult summer reading program game space), knowing nothing about the author or series. While I feel like some things that happen are a little unrealistic, I think the characters are well developed and the story as a whole is believable. I will read the remainder of the series so I can see what happens to the characters.
Let's start off by saying that I really liked this book, though when I first caught wind of it, I was expecting something different. The music aspect of the book was interesting to read about and was very acurate and detailed, so for people who really like to read about MUSIC, this is a good book to read. I liked the romance, though a little bit expected, I still really liked it. I think the book could have dived into the interpersonal relationships a teensy weensy bit more and would've gotten a great book about growing friendship too. In other words, I wish that the main character, Jasmine, got to interact with the other guys of the house more often, you know, get to know them better too; but hey, that is what a sequel is for! 4 stars because I liked it overall but was expecting something else. Shelves: hilarious (there really were some funny moments in here), music related(the reason is in the title), regular teen romance(nothing I didn't see coming).
A top notch YA read. Lots of angst and lots of music. Best summed up by Tina's psychic reading of Jasmine's question, 'did I make the right choice?'
Jasmine's life sinks pretty low and her fight to make herself worthy in front of her new friends is an excellent read. The three housemates, Bryn, Felix and especially Sean, are individual and interesting. Veta shows compassion, yet she also speaks her mind. There was enough family drama, without it impinging on the kids' independence.
And, the ending was almost perfect. Another one I devoured when I should have been reading others, doing other things. But so worth it.

I was a huge fan of Tara's first book, Harmonic Feedback. From the description and the cover I knew that Amplified would be just as amazing. And I was right. Amplified was such an amazing, unique novel with a fun and spunky attitude.
One thing that I loved about this book were the characters. I loved all of the band members: Veta, Sean, Felix. Even Bryn was a unique character, though he got on my nerves sometimes. All of them were very colorful.
Even though Jasmine was very spoiled in the past, she didn't seem like it. Her dad (whom I did not like) had taught her to do everything for herself and never ask for help. I never thought of her as a brat. Although, there were times when I wished she would stop complaining about things and do something. But eventually she did.
I'm a huge fan of books with an emphasis on music. And this was one of them. I think that Amplified brings something new to the YA table. I haven't ever read a book like this, or at least not one that was done this well. I was a little worried about the actual music scenes, that I wouldn't be able to picture it well. But I was wrong. All of the performances were described wonderfully.
I keep going back and forth about the ending. On some level I wish it was wrapped up more nicely, but I think it ended well. It left just enough loose ends for me to draw my own conclusions.
Amplified was a fantastic and creative contemporary. It just made me even more of a fan of Tara Kelly, and I can't wait to read more by here.

this was a nice surprise. if ur looking for something like Sara Dessen, this is similar with a touch of more mature content. Don't get crazy, just a little more for mature ya readers. I really enjoyed it, i think the only part i kinda skimmed a bit was the music stuff. Most of the time the author didn't lose me and the music talk was like poetry but other times it was overly long and just bored me. But fear not, the book was more romance and girl trying to find her way than music.
LOVED IT! The book was amazing and kind of a break from all the crap I've read till now. Now I have to go on about the parts I did not like in the book. It's a pain in the ass, but it has to be done. I couldn't understand Jasmine that much. She kept going back from a hard core kick-your-ass kind of chick to a scared little girl. It was kind of confusing, trying to find out which was her real rhythm. I HOPE there is a second book, because, frankly, it was too short. The book could've had more and I found it to have a cliff hanger ending. I don't know why they put Jason in the book, it could have gone well without him. I don't mean to say it was a bad decision to put him there, I just mean it wasn't necessary. The whole thing with Sean seemed rushed. She went from hating him to noticing how cute he was to kissing him. She didn't really say she liked him that much. It wasn't until she kissed him that I got the feeling she liked him (How could you not?) But it was a good read and I loved it.
When 17-year-old Jasmine informs her father that she wants to defer her enrollment to Stanford for a year, he kicks her out of the house. So Jasmine takes her amp, her guitars, and her beat up old car to look for a job, a place to live, and a music gig, but not necessarily in that order.
Well-written, albeit somewhat predictable, story about independence, music, introspection, and relationships. Good choice for kids who like the music/club scene.

So completely amazing!!! I literally ignored what I was supposed to be doing in class to read this
