Ok, so I agree with some of the more critical reviews of this final installment but no need to be mean. It's definitely rushed, and I can definitely see where the author had to change plotlines in order to conclude the story as quickly/neatly as possible (apparently he was majorly ill at some point, hence the long production time). The space aspect started to throw me around book 7 but I could still see the potential but I think the need to wrap things up killed whatever interesting ideas they had going on. And let be clear, there are many! The story is a labor of love and has strong elements, it just lost its way toward the end. Not a terrible ending, but somewhat lackluster given what it was building up to. I may come back to list off what issues I had with the narrative...we'll see...

**Edit** OK so I came back immediately lmao, honestly, it was so long between this book and the last one (6 years to be exact rip) this book feels like a fever dream. Like I still can't believe I bought it and it's real lol. I think another issue I can definitely say is that I feel like...the fun is gone? Like there are no moments that add levity or help the audience release and rebuild tension. I don't know if I would say the passion is gone but the...emotion...hits different? Also these kids are so serious they don't feel real? Having children handle adult issues has been done before (ATLA, etc) so I know you can have strong kid leads that FEEL like children you know what I mean? This book is missing something the other's had....

While it wraps up some things, it leaves the rest open, and I don't know if there's a plan for a second series, or that's just all there is, an ambiguous ending, but it wasn't as satisfying as I was hoping. I still feel relatively confused about a lot of the story elements.

I do appreciate that sort of mix of the Magician's Nephew with so many other stories to create something really original and wonderful, and I can see myself revisiting the series in the future to see if I understand it better.
