The constant feeling of dread I experienced reading this book. Stressful. Haven't read a haunted house book in a while and this was a fun take on one.

It was just ok. I like haunted mansion stories and this one isn't different from anything you might've read. The plot was predictable but I still enjoyed it. It's a nice Resident Evil in book format with a little romance.

What I didn't enjoy is that it took 11 chapters to get anywhere. Also, the very first dialogue between Noemí and her father seemed completely unnatural, sounded like a head investigator giving a case to one of his agents (this doesn't get explained at any point so I'm still puzzled about it).

Noemi is sent a frantic letter from her cousin, Catalina, begging for help. Packing her bags, Noemi makes her way to High Place to try to see what she can do to save her cousin. However, the Doyle's, Catalinas in laws, have other plans. As Noemi soon finds out, they have other plans, and the walls of the house has secrets beyond her understanding.

I don't think I've ever read a book that got it's hooks in me so bad! It instantly grabbed me with it's intricate plot, fleshed out characters, and just the palpable dread in the atmosphere. The twist that the mushrooms keep the family alive is something I was hoping so desperately would happen, that when the veil was lifted I practically screamed! I'm recommending this to all my friends from here on out!

This is a good book club book for sure. Not sure how to explain that vibe. The ending was good but I found myself confused in the beginning, maybe because I was slightly uninterested in from jump. Idk how to write book reviews anymore, don't listen to me. The book was just fine. Would make an interesting movie. Thought it'd be more Spanish than it was. It was just a Latina in a British home
