For me, romance doesn't really work well in short form. I suspect all of these stories in this anthology will continue later in subsequent volumes, of the four, three feel like they could stand alone. The artwork is consistently fantastic and if these volumes weren't so hard to get my hands on, I would happily read on in the series.

More of a 4.5 overall.
I loved Ruined, Beauties, and The Ruby Equation and enjoyed School Spirits and the Kieron Gillen story whose name I forgot (>_
It's sweet, it's diverse, and the art is all kinds of gorgeous! While investigating the possibility of a volume 2, I saw that Janelle Asselin folded Rosy Press (the series' original publisher), which is a bummer. I'll have to chip in to the new Kickstarter for volume 2 through its new home.

Flavorless. A lot of odd pacing, bland plots, but a lot of pretty art styles. I love anthologies, but if all the stories are weak then there’s nothing much to write home about other than “don’t read this”. Definitely suffered from Happy Meal photo shoot syndrome where every possible minority was “represented” in some of the stories, but had no uh... flavor. No flavor here whatsoever. I can name 3 of my friends who draw better and more “diverse” webcomics that don’t put me to sleep.

I really enjoyed this anthology. Prior to finding it at the library, I didn’t know graphic novel anthologies were a thing. My favorite stories from this collection were School Spirit, The Ruby Equation, and Beauties. I’m interested in seeing if there’s more work with the characters from School Spirit and The Ruby Equation. I read The Magic Fish last year and it was nice to see Trung Le Nguyen’s art style in Beauties.

I am not loving any of these stories, but I am intrigued enough to keep reading.

A series of short romance stories told in graphic novel form, loved the fresh take on some old tropes. The art was also super baller. Recommended!

The first volume of a kickstarted graphic novel of supernatural (and supernaturally-influenced) romance comics, it's light but enjoyable fluff. The Beauty and the Beast story at the end is the only real misstep, but all the rest have different redeeming moments making for a great collection, especially for YA audiences.
