There was a lot of good in the book, but ultimately I didn’t feel the connection/ spark between the two main characters. Also, similair to book one, there was a mystery side plot towards the end that I didn’t think was needed for the development of the story.

What to expect:
-Longtime crush
-Virgin heroine
-Some suspense
-Spicy scenes
-Dual POVs
-Small Montanna town setting

I'm for sure over the virgin trope!

Jackson needs ALL the therapy.

Willa and Jackson were cute at times but it all just felt super unhealthy and Willa is kind of a doormat. Her parents were kind of cool but I'm sorry, if your parents can hear you having sex with your fella then you need somewhere else (like his house) to have sex. Every time they went at it after that revelation I just got the ick. It would have been simple:

Willa: Oh my goodness Jackson, my parents let me know they can hear us when we get down and dirty.

Jackson: That's so embarrassing for both of us! Since you are loud maybe we should come up with a solution to this mortifying situation.

Willa: Well they told me they'd close their windows and suggested that I close mine but as I'm so vocal I think we might need to try something else. I know, let's go to your house that is but two blocks away!

Jackson: Great idea babe! (or has is emotional breakdown much earlier)

I honestly couldn't enjoy them together after this.

Split in two

It's interesting... I didn't like the main characters for the first half of this book. Willa was childish and naive for a 25 year old woman. And Jackson at 31 lacks so much emotional maturity.

Then the second half happened, and it was like it was a different book with the same characters. I definitely enjoyed the second half and it redeemed the first half. I will definitely continue to get to know what the other Lark Cove residents do in the future.
emotional

Nice, the intrigue was a bit extreme but took the strain off the relationship (the unbalance between Jackson and Willa was starting to go around in circles). I would have liked to see more of Willa’s skills and determination, at times she seemed so mediocre.

2.5 stars 2.5 spice

Overall my least favorite in the series. I had high hopes that their romance would be precious after the whole Jackson seeing Thea's drawing of Willa in book 1, but I was disappointed.

I was regularly annoyed by Willa, like I get it - but also how shy and timid she was ended up being a bit much. The only times I really cared for Willa was when she was handing Jackson's ass to him, but other than that she was quite bland.

Jackson was also aggravating at times. I forgive him for being blind to Willa's crush, but his own crippling thoughts and then miscommunication just wasn't it for me.

Being that all of the books in this series are also supposed to be standalones, I felt that over half of this story was just revisiting the other storyline? It's only been 2 days since I finished this and I can't think of anything that happened plot wise to this main couple in this book, apart from miscommunication?

If anyone is looking for it, the main trope here is virgin (FMC) with Man hoe (MMC).
