This was my first Devney Perry novel and I will be honest and say that I wasn't too impressed with this one... I struggled to find the connection between Willa and Jackson and I ended up skimming A LOT. On the other hand, I did enjoy the writing! Although this wasn't the best book to start with, I will definitely be reading more from her!

I am sucker for this trope, and Perry once again did not disappoint. I enjoyed this one even more than Tattered. On to the next couple in the series.

I started this series last year and for some reason didn’t continue, but I’m back into it and really loved Jackson + Willa’s story. It was sweet, a little cheesy, with emotion, heart and steam.
Willa has had feelings for Jackson since she first saw him at 17, but he’s never paid her any attention. Fast forward nine years and he’s finally pulled his blinkers off and see’s the woman in front of him. I adored how determined he was once he decided he wanted more with her. There were sweet gestures, little notes and some grovelling that made me swoon for this man. I loved that Willa didn’t make it easy for him, but he was never deterred by her reluctance.
In typical Devney style, we get some unexpected twists and the most heartwarming found family feels. The way Willa loved Jackson, and through that love helped him face his hangups, heal and accept the love he was being given was something special.

I didn't like Jackson in the first Lark Cove book (Tattered) and still don't. Willa chased after him so hard and is definitely too good for him. The ending seemed too "happily ever after". There were also a lot of moments from Tattered that were in this book, but told from Jackson's perspective which made it repetitive.
