This book caught me by surprise -I loved it. If you enjoy Deborah Crosbie, I think this is for you. Off to track down the second book in the series!

Book club - Pam’s choice for 23 Oct 2023
Loved it - gripping, compelling read even if plot quite challenging- gruesome in part - author paints vivid images with prose which can make difficult reading.
Like writing style which is fast paced and main protagonist becomes quite likeable so wanted to read further in series
Read quickly & now finished Book 8 by Aug 2024

I rarely give books low stars because I would normally just DNF, so this feels weird, but I had to read it for book club.
I also do love a good crime thriller, but for me, this one just didn't thrill me. The pacing was slow, the storyline wasn't different enough to grab me, and the characters took a long time to warm to.
The last section did pick up both pace and thrills, but by then, I wasn't bothered.
I did like the working relationship between Moss, Peterson, and Foster, and in future books, I'm sure that will be expanded. So if you like the things that I don't in crime thrillers, then definitely check this one out.
