Started strong and then didn’t go anywhere. Probably a me problem as I can appreciate the talent that goes into creating a work without form or narrative - but I like plot! Bring back plot! I’m a plot-apologist xx

I really enjoyed this book. Complex yet beautifully simple.

lonely, beautiful, horrifying prose that knows the dull pang of being a growing girl. especially portrays the complex parent-child relationships. does what normal people does but better, more real and vicious.

None the characters are particularly likeable, the writing just does not do it for me. As well, having picked this up just after finishing the masterpiece that is Girl, Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo where the connection of vastly different characters between chapters was flawless, as much as I don't want to use someone else's work to knock someone else down, to me, this is comparatively not good.

The prose was good, but that was about it. I didn't really get why we followed three different girls, and I think this could've been better if we only followed one of them. I just could not grasp what the message of the book was supposed to be.

I felt like all three of the main characters where relatable to a certain extent, but they just seemed flat and mostly defined by one central characteristic instead of properly fleshed out.

I normally don't care much about open endings or things like that, but this book just didn't lead anywhere and just ended suddenly. I might give this another go in the future, but I really struggled through this book
