I found it to be alright. It was really fast paced, but with that, I got lost in the plot sometimes. The best way I could describe my experience is as if I was digging a hole, fell into a cave, and got lost multiple times. The mystery/thriller part of the book though is what kept me going with this book along with the romance.

This was an Odyssey Honor book at the 2024 Youth Media Awards, and it was well-deserved! The narrator deftly handled the frequent swaps between the variety of accents necessary to represent the characters in the book, and there were several "on the edge of your seat" moments. Highly recommend for any teen (really anyone!) that loves historical fiction with some intrigue and a very tiny bit of clean romance.
